In my last post about my writing life, I lamented the fact that my publisher, Wings ePress, is closing down at the end of 2025. At my request, they unpublished my books right away, so I could jump back into the pitching game.
Talk about a gut wrench. For so long, my goal was to be a published author. The Godfather of Dance had been out just over a year, A Killer Among Friends only a few months, and all of a sudden, I was back to having no books available for purchase. I felt unmoored.
Fun fact: you can’t take a print book off Amazon or Goodreads. Once it’s up, it’s there ad infinitum. So if you look for my books, you will still find them. I’m not sure what would happen if you tried to order them, but technically the old ones are unavailable.
Given how long it took for me to find a publisher the first time, I was prepared for the process to take months, years even. Maybe I’d finally decide to self-publish. To my immense delight, it all happened very quickly. I’m happy to announce that I’ve signed with a new (aptly-named ) publisher: Next Chapter Publishing.
My deal is for the full Jade Riley series – yes, all five books! They will republish the first two books: The Godfather of Dance and A Killer Among Friends. The remaining three books will follow: The Man in the Dam, The Runaway Girl and The Desert Thief.
Jade’s first mystery The Godfather of Dance is already available as an ebook, and will soon be ready as print on demand. It’s the same story with a new cover. So yes, this is Ground Hog Day, I’m back to promoting Book 1!
One new touch is a QR code for a Spotify list of the songs I used as chapter titles. If you’d like to listen, this is the link: The Godfather of Dance on Spotify. If you’d like to see a list of the songs, you’ll find them here.
I also changed from US English to Australian/UK English.
This publisher moves quickly, so I’ll update this post as more Jade Riley Mysteries are released. I look forward to sharing the rest of her journey with you.
Next time: an interview with the fabulous Elizabeth Worley on life in Panama and Chasing Tropical Ice
